Field Recording #5

Airplane Sound

To record this sound I stood by this huge beautiful tree. I was taking pictures of the tree has I heard the plane start to fly nearby.
Recorded on February 28th at 3:30pm. Mics were attached to the hood of my jacket.

Field Recording #4

Owl Hooing
I would hear the owl begin to 'hoo', while I was walking. Then as soon as I would stop so I wouldn't get the sounds of my footsteps, it would stop 'hooing'. I began to play a game with this owl because it seemed as if it was watching me walk to start 'hooing' again, and then only to stop when I stopped walking. Finally I got a somewhat descent recording.
Recorded on February 28th at 3:00pm. Mics were attached to the hood of my jacket.

Field Recording #3

Ice Stomping

Since there was an ice storm a day before I decided to do my Drift 1, I began to notice all the different sounds I could get from the different thickness of ice. I stomped on this section of ice to create this sound that almost sounds like breaking glass.
Recorded on February 28th at 3:18pm. Mics were attached to the hood of my jacket.

Field Recording #2

Kids

Never really did see the kids, I only heard them from a distance. Kind of eerie to get that strong of a recording and to never see the subject.
Recorded on February 28th at 3:12pm. Mics were attached to the hood of my jacket.

Field Recording #1

Birds

One of the first sounds that I recorded were these groups of small birds chirping, they didn't play the same game that the owl played though!
Recorded on February 28th at 3:35pm. Mics were attached to the hood of my jacket.

Drift Strategy #1

For my drift I plan on using a map of the camp that I'm a counselor at. I will walk in the 'average' pattern I had to walk on a day to day basis this past summer. I will walk this pattern at the UW-Madison Arboretum. Since the Arboretum is so open it will allow me to walk my path more smoothly.
